Year End Giving Benefits Our Local Schools

With Coronado’s public schools funded 39th out of 41 southern California school districts, the financial support of the local community is critical to maintain cutting-edge programs in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM).

Jill Hardman, owner of Art & Frames by Wood Gallery on Orange Avenue, recently presented a check as part of her ongoing financial support of the visual/fine arts within our village schools. “As a child growing up on a farm in Ohio, I always loved art and eventually majored in art at DePauw University and did my graduate work in France. Art programs are essential for well-rounded student learning and I am honored to support the work of these amazing students,” noted Jill.

Jill has been an active supporter of arts education for nearly two decades.  When reviewing her trust in 2000, she decided to will her home to the visual and fine arts department in Coronado’s public village schools through the Coronado Schools Foundation. She encourages others to consider donations to the schools in their estate planning, whether a bequest in their will or trust, through a Donor Advised Fund, or though many of the other vehicles available to benefit children in Coronado in perpetuity.

“Jill’s support is critical to continue our art programs for generations of students for years to come,” said Laura Hill, art teacher at Coronado High School. “She has made it possible for us to offers special events and our students love visiting her Gallery and learning from her. Her eventual gift, which will be put in an endowment designated to visual/fine arts and managed by the CSF Finance Committee, will be life-changing for our Coronado High School programs.”
