Imagine six of your favorite local restaurants serving up their favorite fresh dishes all in one place…sound too good to be true? Nope. Sounds like the Restaurant Showcase at the Chamber’s Celebrate Coronado event! Add to that local beer from Coronado Brewing Company, coffee and donuts from Amalo Brew, live music by Thomas Giglio, delicious drinks, amazing raffle prizes donated from local businesses, the chance to thank our police officers, firefighters, lifeguards and city employees and celebrate our wonderful city and you’ve got one heck of a celebration!
“Celebrate Coronado is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Sue Gillingham, Executive Director at the Coronado Chamber of Commerce. “It’s celebrating all things local, from local restaurants and chefs to local businesses and heroes.”
The Chamber is thrilled to have six local restaurants participating in the Restaurant Showcase: Blue Bridge Hospitality, Bluewater Boathouse, Crown Landing at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort, Current from Coronado Island Marriott, Hotel Del Coronado and Primavera. Each restaurant will be sending their Head Chef along with his or her specialty dish. The food is sure to be a hit and the drinks are too, with Coronado Brewing Company providing the beer, Amalo Brew providing coffee and a full bar also on site.
The event is open to the public and tickets are now on sale for just $50. The Chamber is also asking the community to help “Host a Hero” at the event. For just $50, you can purchase a ticket so that a Coronado firefighter, police officer, lifeguard or city employee can attend this annual event, thrown in their honor, for free.
This event serves as the Chamber’s Annual Community Awards, including the local Police Officer of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, Lifeguard of the Year, City Employee of the Year and the newly introduced Naval Base Coronado Firefighter of the Year. Additionally, the Chamber will induct their 2016-2017 Board of Directors and will present their selected Volunteer of the Year and Lewis R. Hardy, Jr. Award for service to the community.
