FILM FORUM CORONADO: “The Trial”

Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.
July 20: The Trial (1962, 118 minutes)
Glittering with a surreal sheen, Orson Welles directed this nightmarish version of Kafka’s apocalyptic novel. An ineffectual bank clerk (Anthony Perkins) is trapped in the absurdist mechanisms of an unforgiving bureaucracy. Co-stars Welles and Jeanne Moreau. (60th Anniversary)
