Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.
October 5: The Hawks and the Sparrows (1966, 90 min, Italian with English subtitles)
Controversial Pier Paolo Pasolini directed this subversive comic odyssey focused on a father (Italian screen legend Toto) and his slow-witted son who take a time-traveling stroll through life accompanied by a talking “left-wing intellectual” crow spouting Marxist philosophies and social critiques.
