The Spa at The Del is running specials just for Coronado residents on Monday through Thursday each week. The specials are available now, with spa hours being extended for the summer season beginning in April.

Each service includes complimentary eight-hour self-parking, a glass of champagne, and day access to the private outdoor spa pool, indoor Jacuzzi, steam room, and relaxation lounges.

My friend and I tried out these specials last week. I opted to go with the locals’ special for the Del Signature Facial, and my friend chose one of the military specials for her 50-minute Swedish massage.
This was my first time inside the Spa at the Del, and I could tell from the moment I stepped inside the entrance that this would be no ordinary spa experience. The lovely shop and reception area was flooded with light and filled with the scent of exotic candles. We were warmly greeted and checked in before being escorted into the ladies’ private spa area.
The spa manager offered to give us a tour to orient us to the services of the spa. She showed us the locker room, where we could key in our personal passwords into our lockers. Inside our lockers, a Spa at the Del robe, fitted rubber slippers, and small spa gift waited for us. She also showed us the luxurious bathroom; beauty and make-up room with vanity counters and hair dryers; and individual shower stalls with all the shampoo, conditioner, and soaps we could desire, as well as our own disposable razor and shower cap.
Beyond these areas, she introduced us to the Jacuzzi room and attached steam room, quiet Relaxation Lounge with complimentary tea and snacks, and then the outdoor deck with the pool and chaise lounges overlooking the Windsor Lawn and ocean.
As our treatments would not begin for another half hour, my friend and I decided to enjoy the Jacuzzi first. A large pitcher of cucumber-infused water waited next to the pool, and we sipped cups of this while slipping fully into the Del spa experience.
At 3pm, we were waiting in the Relaxation Lounge when our therapists called us back for our treatments. My therapist, a lead esthetician named Debra Collins, immediately put me at ease with her calm and confident manner. She led me to a peaceful room equipped with soft music, aromatherapy, and a luxurious, heated bed. I slipped between the sheets and felt like I could drift right off to sleep.
I am currently seven months pregnant, and Debra was sensitive to this, but not overly concerned, which I appreciated. She adjusted the bed to my comfort before asking me questions about my skin. Twice after that she offered two different oils for me to smell and choose between, instructing that my preference would indicate what my skin really needed. The facial would be tailored to my skin’s needs. Additionally, Debra used Espa Products, luxury natural skin care products that felt incredible on my skin and left it glowing and healthy. Debra also added a brief arm, shoulder, and neck massage, a bonus I wasn’t expecting and enjoyed very much.
Afterwards, my friend said she also thoroughly enjoyed her Swedish massage, especially at such an affordable price. “My experience at the Del was both relaxing and educational,” she said. “My therapist listened to my concerns about problem areas, while providing me with insightful ways to ensure I got the most out of my experience at their spa and all that it offers (steam room, Jacuzzi, etc.).”
With both our treatments finished, we still had an hour before the spa closed, and we spent the rest of the time enjoying the sunshine and views by the pool. I realized I had discovered a new corner of Coronado that I would have to return to as often as possible. Once you purchase a treatment at the spa (some of them extremely affordable, such as the locals’ 60-minute mani/pedi for $50), you have access to the Spa at the Del and the Fitness Center for the rest of the day. My friend told me she has come for a 10 am treatment and then stayed for several more hours: reading in the Jacuzzi, working out in the Fitness Room, ordering lunch by the pool, and finishing up with a shower and cup of tea in the Relaxation Room at the end of the day. What a wonderful way to enjoy one of the most luxurious and beautiful parts of our Coronado home.
