PAWS of Coronado Open Letter to the Community

THEY ARE OUT!!!!!

Enormous “THANKS!” go to our President, Karen Dwinell, and Head of the Cat Adoption and Foster Teams, Bob Miegl and Corinne Mitchell, for spending untold hours finding homes for each of the critters who had suffered through the ringworm outbreak.

Now the cats and dogs, kittens and pups can rest and recover from the turmoil of the past few months…and so can Karen, Bob and Corinne! But, these dedicated volunteers remain on call to anyone who can help foster over the Thanksgiving holiday or who wish to give one of these animals their forever home. If you are interested in helping a dog, please call Karen at 619-437-0220; if a cat is more appropriate to your home environment on Turkey Day or later in the holiday season, please call Bob at 619-840-9727 or Corinne at 619-241-6600.

As though you don’t do enough for PAWS, we are asking our loyal members to step up to the plate again. Over the next weeks, the ACF will be cleaned and sanitized by the Coronado Police Department. Furnishings are to be discarded so the animals will not be re-infested with ringworm when they return from foster care. And PAWS will not return any animal to the ACF until we are comfortable that it has been thoroughly decontaminated.

Could you help us in refurbishing the ACF? The staff will need new or gently used and clean towels, small blankets and big, thick blankets for the large dogs. Also necessary are beds, bowls, toys and treats for both cats and dogs, and cat trees for the community cat rooms.

PAWS is providing storage space for these items as we gather them until the ACF is officially reopened and we feel comfortable that the ringworm infestation has been completely controlled. The storage garage is at 828 Guadalupe Avenue. Please phone Louise Shirey at 619-435-8247 when you are planning to drop something off.
Monetary donations earmarked “furnishings” will be used to purchase items where there is a shortage when it all gets sorted out.

So many of you came forward with foster homes, gifts of money, good wishes and moral support, PAWS and the animals cannot thank you enough. Without you, Coronado’s cats and dogs would be without the attention, care and concern they so deserve.

Best regards,

Board of Directors
