Community Voices: Raising the Speed Limit on 3rd and 4th to 30 MPH would never be done by anyone who Lives and has children on Coronado Island

Raising the Speed Limit on 3rd and 4th to 30 MPH would never be done by anyone who Lives and has children on Coronado Island

This is insane to put it mildly. The posted speed is 25 mph now..LOL

I challenge The Mayor, The City Mgr, and CPD Chief Froomin to try to cross any part of 3rd or 4th between 730am-9am and again from 230pm-5pm and ask themselves 1 question,.. “Would I want my kids anywhere near this?”. The Answer by all of them would be an Absolute “NO”. The speed Limit is 25, most cars are doing 30-35 mph, with at least 25% of the really ignorant drivers going 45-55 mph. There is a 95% rate of complete ignoring of the Crosswalks. With the Cars parked on both sides of 3rd and 4th, there is No clear line of sight, which is compounded by the excessive speed, making it like playing frogger,… It is a disgrace How the CPD has ignored this problem. It is a bureaucratic blunder to even have CALTRANS considering raising the speed limit to 30 MPH. This will only mean that Everyone will going 35-45 now,… and the boneheads who don’t care will raise their speed to 60 mph.

I am convinced it will take a absolute tragedy to have our elected representatives and Police Department Wake Up to this shameful oversight to the service and well being of the residents of Coronado.
