CHS Girls Golf: Two Close Losses, One Great Win

This past week, Coronado’s Girls Golf team played three tough away matches. The first against Poway High School was played at Rancho Bernardo Country Club. Unfortunately, the Islanders forfeited this match since both teams tied at 240, and Coronado had no sixth player to settle the tiebreaker as Poway did.

On Tuesday, the team took on Point Loma High School at Balboa Park Golf Course for the second time this season. Junior Crista Izuzquiza shot Coronado’s lowest score of 36 strokes. She was followed by team captain Caroline Ward and sophomore Annie Holland, who shot scores of 46 and 49, respectively. Once again, Point Loma took the win with a close final score of 232-225.

Sophomore Annie Holland sinks the putt against Cathedral Catholic, shooting a season-best of 44 strokes.

On Thursday, Coronado dominated on the Fairbanks Ranch Valley Course against Cathedral Catholic. Despite the many water holes on this course, Holland had her best performance of the season, and she was named Medalist of the Match with a score of 44 strokes. Not far behind, Ward shot a 47, followed by sophomore Samantha Lorr with a 52. The Islanders tallied up their scores to win 276-355.

Next Week’s Matches:
  • Tuesday, October 2 vs. Scripps Ranch High School at Coronado Municipal Golf Course @ 3:30 PM
  • Thursday, October 4 vs. La Jolla High School at Coronado Municipal Golf Course @ 3:30 PM
