Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6pm in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.
November 16: The Manchurian Candidate (1962, 126 min)
Visionary director John Frankenheimer’s jazzy, daring, delirious, and wickedly satirical political thriller. A U.S. Army sergeant (Laurence Harvey), a POW during the Korean War, is programmed to become a sleeper assassin in a Communist conspiracy. Frank Sinatra is a fellow POW who uncovers the sinister plot. Angela Lansbury gives a bravura performance as the Machiavellian wife of a staunch anti-Communist senator. With Janet Leigh.
