On March 6th, 2016 our family unexpectedly lost the most beautiful soul; a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew. Peter Joseph Falletta, “Petey Joe”, “Pedro”, “Kev”, “Peter Roo”, was born on March 19th, 1979 at Coronado Hospital. He was almost 37 at the time of his death. Peter was born and raised in Coronado, California. He graduated from Coronado High School, class of 1998. Growing up in Coronado, Peter played youth soccer and was active in Coronado Little League for many years, earning him the nickname “Pete the Heat”. He loved the beach, camping and surfing with his friends.
After high school, Peter worked at the Chart House and then Emerald City, where he eventually managed the store in Coronado. He taught many of the Coronado youth how to surf during his time at the Coronado Surfing Academy, while bartending at night for the locals at Tent City. Growing up as an honorary member of the Chapman family, Peter was brought into their flagship gem, Coronado Brewing Company. Peter did it all, bartending, managing, brewing beer and, of course, keeping the place spotless. This past November, after much thought, Peter decided to join his Uncle Tony in the construction business in hopes of one day running Falletta Construction with his cousins. He loved the challenge, learning something new each day and putting his precision and detail-oriented mind to work.
Everyone who knew Peter loved him instantly. He had a great sense of humor, a contagious laugh and a silliness that was both refreshing and engaging. He was generous and compassionate, without hesitation. His smile made you feel instantly at ease and his beautiful green eyes had an inviting warmth to them. He was incredibly good with kids, his niece and nephew and all of his friend’s children adored “Uncle Pete”. Peter loved his family and his friends unconditionally.
Peter loved music and art, especially Salvador Dali and expressed this through the many tattoos that adorned his body. He had a unique sense of style that was all his own and was meticulous in how he dressed, despite getting teased for taking so long to get ready sometimes. In his free time, Peter loved to ride his Harley, travel, golf, and play games with his family like LCR and Yahtzee.
Peter is survived by his grandmother, Beatrice Falletta; parents, Greta Swenson and John Falletta; his brother Andy Falletta; his sister Michele Falletta Dozier and her husband Brian; his nephew and niece Austin and Avery Dozier; his aunt and uncle Trish and Mike Forrey; his aunt and uncle Janet and Tony Falletta; and three cousins who were like sisters to him, Gina Falletta, Natalie Falletta and Lisa Falletta; and a brotherhood of countless friends who were his chosen family.
A celebration of his life will take place this Saturday, March 26th, 2016 at the Coronado Brewing Company’s Tasting Room in San Diego from 1-4pm. 1205 Knoxville Street, San Diego, CA 92110. Please join us for a Pint for Peter.
