I’m usually not a fan of numerous plot twists, but Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners had me biting my nails on the edge of my seat for its entirety. One of this fall’s greatest thriller film hits the Village Theatre this week.
The film shows Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman), a deeply religious, caring father, and Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) as they embark on their respective (and very different) frantic searches of two young girls, one of whom is Dover’s daughter. Ever-changing suspects and traces that seemingly lead to nothing find the characters falling into insanity.
Although the movie portrays a parent’s worst nightmare, audiences of all ages will surely leave the theater looking behind their shoulder.
Moviegoer Cori Hutchinson said this was “one of the best scary movies I’ve seen in a while.”
Well thought-out plot twists, excellent writing, superb acting, and on-point music make prove why Prisoners has debuted #1 on the charts. Anyone up for a good thrill should check it out.
