Halloween Costume Drive 2019 Update & Donations Accepted Through Nov. 8

Update from Coronado Girl Scouts for the 2019 Halloween Costume Drive:

We delivered 265 costumes to the Monarch School this year, and we are still continuing to accept costumes post-Halloween through next Friday November 8th. Bins are still at CHS, CMS, Village, Silver Strand and Christ Church Day School.

Tune in for our update on the KCMS Broadcast:

KCMS Live News Feed and Archived Broadcasts

Samantha: Hi I’m Samantha from Troop 5548.
Grace: And I’m Grace from Troop 6561.
Samantha: For the last four years, my Girl Scout Troop has been holding a Halloween Costume Drive for the Monarch School. We started it because when we asked the school how we could help them, they said their students need Halloween costumes.
Grace: The Monarch School is a school for homeless kids. There are 20 students per grade and it’s K-12. That means there are about 250 total students there.
Samantha: We began this drive because we wanted to raise awareness in our community about homeless children and their needs. Simple things that we take for granted like Halloween costumes.
Grace: Some people cannot afford these simple things because they don’t even have a home of their own to live in. So we want to thank all of you for donating your gently used costumes over the years. Please continue to donate!
Samantha: We accept costumes before and after Halloween, collecting for both this year and next. And when you donate, think about that kid whose Halloween you’re making so happy and so special.
Now that we are getting older, we want to keep the tradition alive and hand over the Halloween Costume Drive to Brownie Troop 6561.
Grace: We are excited to take over and keep the drive going for many more years to come. It will be the same drive, just different faces.
Both together: Thank you all for your support!

From the Monarch School:

Sending out a quick email this morning to say THANK YOU for your help at Monarch this week! On Tuesday, every Monarch student had the opportunity to come through the Halloween pop up shop and pick out a costume to wear. On Friday, elementary school students paraded around campus to trick or treat, middle and high school students each enjoyed a Halloween party, and all families were invited to participate in an after-school Trunk-or-Treat! It was a week full of festivities and we are so grateful that you were a part of it!

Thank you so much for your help in ensuring that Monarch students were equipped for a day of fun and celebration. We couldn’t do it without you.

Sincerely,
the Monarch team
