Football: CHS Seniors Honored Despite 54-0 Loss to Serra High School

Serra High School bests Coronado’s defensive line, defeating the Islanders 54-0.

On Friday night, Coronado hosted Serra High School for the final regular-season home game. As such, it was also “Senior Night,” where the class of 2019 seniors were honored for their dedication to Islander sports. The community came to cheer on the Islanders, but unfortunately it was a rough 54-0 loss to Serra.

Although Coronado was not able to score, junior Colter Maldonado showed strong and versatile play on both offense and defense. “We ended our regular season at 7-3,” shares Coach Hines, “a complete turnaround from last year‘s record of 2-8.”

Congratulations to the seniors for an outstanding season! The Islanders will continue post-season playoffs this Friday night against Chula Vista High School.
