Friday’s ‘Wine & Lecture’: R.E. Smith, Maker of Watches for Navy SEALs

This Friday, August 8 at 5:30 p.m., R. E. Smith will be the presenter at CHA’s next “Wine & Lecture” event. Smith is head of Coronado-based RESCO Instruments, which makes watches inspired by the SEALs. Smith is a SEAL himself and has had great success with his new business, beginning with the Patriot line of watches. He is now producing a brand new line named Manus.

The Patriot line is the only watch that has been field tested through every phase of NSW training by actual operators providing feedback and design input. All RESCO watches are designed, assembled and tested in Coronado, and bear the name of our hometown on the base of the dial. The local entrepreneur will talk about his business model and how the SEAL experience helped him get started. CHA’s current History of Navy SEALs in Coronado exhibit will be open at the Coronado Museum for all attendees of the lecture.

CHA’s Wine & Lecture events are free to the public; wine is available at $5 per glass. No RSVP required, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Lecture Hall is located at the Coronado Museum of History & Art, 1100 Orange Avenue. For more information, visit www.CoronadoHistory.org or call (619) 435-7242.
