Basketball: CHS Girls Lose to University City and Morse

This past week, the girls’ basketball worked hard in their games against University City and Morse High Schools. Tuesday’s away game at University City proved difficult for Coronado in the first half. Having scored only four points in the first quarter, University City had a lead of 20-4 at halftime. After regrouping, Coronado gained better ground on the offensive in outscoring their opponents in the last two quarters. Unfortunately, this was not enough to take the lead, and the Islanders lost 28-40.

On Fridaly night, Coronado played Morse High School for the second time this season. Morse had kept a constant lead the entire game, outscoring Coronado in nearly every quarter. The final score of the game was 31-43. Sophomore Lauren White led the team offensively, scoring a total of eleven points, and securing a total of thirteen rebounds. Junior Sarah Barns also helped Coronado’s offense by scoring a total of ten points, along with securing fourteen rebounds.

The current girls’ varsity record is five wins to thirteen losses.

Next Week’s Games:
  • Tuesday, February 13 vs. Patrick Henry High School in the CHS Gym @ 5:00 PM
  • Thursday, February 15 vs. Point Loma High School in the CHS Gym @ 5:30 PM
