CORONADO, Calif., — The Student Online Achievement Resource (SOAR) is an internet-based program free for military families designed to help military students in grades 3-12 with math, reading, and language arts. According to the SOAR website, SOAR can identify students’ academic strengths and weaknesses, tailor instructions to address students’ specific needs and provide families that are moving with a look at the state academic standards in their next school district. “SOAR is a program for military families and the school districts that serve them, along with the civilian students in the same classroom,” said Jamie Jamison, a local SOAR Parent Facilitator. “SOAR is a tool that the students can use as they transition from duty station to duty station with their families. It is an internet-based program for students in grades 3 – 12. It helps families manage their children’s education with cutting edge technology. The focus is on math, reading and language arts. With the click of a mouse, SOAR takes the child to a virtual classroom. Anytime during the school year, students can learn what they’re good at and where they might need a little extra help,” added Jamison. Read the entire article here.
