Coronado Filmmaker’s “Kissing Statue” Short Film Accepted by KPBS GI Film Festival San Diego

Coronado, CA – Surf’s Up Studios producer and director, Tony Perri will be screening his short film, “Kissing Statue Dedication” at the KPBS GI FILM FESTIVAL on Sunday, October 18, 2015.

Mr. Perri’s film is one of only twelve movies selected from hundreds of entries to the festival. “Filming that iconic statue as it was placed on it’s pedestal and then interviewing Pearl Harbor survivors during a dedication ceremony were some of the best parts of making this short film,” said Tony Perri.

In the film, Perri captured the arrival of the giant statue on a flatbed truck, the subsequent raising of it by a huge crane and the final placement of the statue at it’s location across from the USS Midway.

Perri remembers another highlight while filming the dedication ceremony, “Interviewing a Pearl Harbor survivor and his wife, who were married for 75 years, was a special moment for me. With my own parents married for 55 years, this was certainly a highlight of the day.” http://www.SurfsUpStudios.com
