The 13th Annual Turkey Trot is back, and it’s better than ever. Join community members for a family-friendly 5K that welcomes runners and walkers of all ages. It’s all happening on Thanksgiving Day at 8 a.m. at Tidelands Park.
This year, the Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary Coronado Unit is proud to designate all net proceeds to the Division of Endocrinology/Diabetes in support of children and families affected by Type 1 Diabetes, according to Andrea Heinecke, event chair.
“So many Coronado families have benefited from the extraordinary care that Rady Children’s Hospital provides,” said Heinecke. “Running the Turkey Trot is an opportunity to be a part of a long-standing tradition, give back, and start the day in health and gratitude.”
The event sells out every year, so participants are encouraged to register early. Register at rchacoronadoturkeytrot.com/.
Last year, the event raised $70,285 for the Orthopedics and Scoliosis Center at Rady Children’s Hospital. This year, organizers hope to raise $100,000 for the Division of Endocrinology/Diabetes.
A special group of Turkey Trot Ambassadors, ranging from elementary school to high school students, will join the event. Together, they represent different ages, experiences and stages of life with Type 1 Diabetes. Their stories of resilience inspire us to live with hope and courage.
The Coronado Turkey Trot would like to thank its 2026 sponsors, the Sorkin Family Foundation, FleetAnalytix, FleetLogix, Aurich Mathews & Associates, the Calhoun Family, Discover Coronado, the Katie Herrick Group, the Pate Family, the Rudowicz Family, Thrasher Pest, the Siara Family, York Law and IVT Yacht Sales. And for local businesses and families interested in sponsoring, the Turkey Trot still offers some opportunities. If you’re interested in sponsoring, please email [email protected].
“The health of our children is a cause Coronado can rally behind, and we are honored to support the work of Rady Children’s Hospital,” said Heinecke. We hope that your personal experiences with Rady Children’s Hospital and the stories of our ambassadors spur you to give back to an outstanding cause.”
