CORONADO Coronado Fire Department officials are alerting residents and visitors that they will run tests of the city’s emergency warning system tomorrow morning. Three sirens are installed around the city at the main fire station on Sixth Avenue, at Glorietta Bay Park and at the Coronado Cays Fire Station and will sound at 10 a.m. for up to three minutes. Authorities say the sirens have never been used in an actual emergency but need to be tested. People are cautioned to remain calm if they hear an extended hornlike sound similar to the old civil-defense sirens. The sirens would be used to warn residents of an emergency, including earthquakes, tsunamis, terrorism and major transportation accidents. Source: San Diego Union Tribune
