Coronado Rotaract, which formed in January of this year, is breaking the molds and raising the monies. The millennial based version of Coronado’s Rotary is identifying causes they care about and imagining their own ways to raise funds.
Millennial Trivia took place on Wednesday, June 17 from 7 to 9 pm raising funds for Coronado Rotaract and PAWS of Coronado. Mexican Village graciously allowed use of their space, as well as presented drink and appetizer deals for participants, and gift certificates for the top two teams. Casey Tanaka, PAWS Board Member, hosted the event and created the questions. The former mayor shared, “It was a great group and I enjoyed the chance to write questions for a different crowd. Our animals and PAWS are so thankful for Coronado Rotaract!”
About 60 participants began the competition and 11 teams made it through the two hours of millennial based questions. For reference, questions included: who is the youngest self-made billionaire (Kylie Jenner), and what was the price of Bitcoin at 5 pm the day of event (over $10,000). Madison Marchetti, Rotaract Board member, says “Millennial Trivia was a great way to bring together the young thought leaders of Coronado in a fun, relaxed, environment. Raising money for PAWS is also incredibly rewarding!”
PAWS shared through their Instagram (which you can follow here): The cats and dogs of PAWS would to thank the Coronado Rotaract for hosting a millennial trivia event last night at Mexican Village. The evening was hosted by PAWS Board of Director member Casey Tanaka and included special guest, Mayor Richard Bailey. We all had a great time and the PAWS team of baby boomers even got a couple of answers correct! The Coronado Rotaract generously donated 50% of their proceeds to PAWS. This money will be used to provide special medical care for our cats and dogs.
