2019 Turkey Coloring Contest Winners

152 students from Coronado’s schools were represented in the City of Coronado Recreation and Golf Services and Coronado Junior Woman’s Club Turkey Coloring Contest. The official turkeys submissions were done by students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Entrants decorated using markers, colored pencils and crayons as their art mediums. New this year, participants could submit their entries though Facebook and via email.

Prizes were awarded to contest winners at the City Council meeting on November 19, by the Mayor and City Council Members.

First Place Winners: The first place winner in the kindergarten and first grade category is Andy Irvine, a kindergartner at Christ Church Day School. The first Place winner in the second and third grade category is Susan Lund, a second grader at Village Elementary School. The first place winner in the fourth and fifth grade category is Van Marinics, a fifth grader at Village Elementary School. All first place winners were awarded a turkey to cook for their Thanksgiving feast.

Second Place Winners: The second place winner in the kindergarten and first grade category is Sofia Anaya, a first grader at Sacred Heart Parish School. The second place winner in the second and third grade category is Ander Rivadeneyra, a third grader at Village Elementary School. The second place winner in the fourth and fifth grade category is Leo DiGrazia, a fourth grader at Village Elementary School.

Third Place Winners: The third place winner in the kindergarten and first grade category is Izabella Gaines, a kindergartner at Silver Strand Elementary School. The third place winner in the second and third grade category is Kent Harris, a third grader at Village Elementary. The third place winner in the fourth and fifth grade category is Brendan McLaughlin, a fifth grader at Village Elementary School.

All second and third place winners were awarded a holiday pie of their choosing to pick up at Coronado’s Wells Fargo Bank, host of Mama’s Kitchen Holiday Pie in the Sky Fundraiser Event. The annual coloring contest is brought to the City of Coronado through the generous donation of the Coronado Junior Woman’s Club. All contest participants were rewarded with a Thanksgiving prize. All 152 entries are on display in the Coronado Community Center.  Congratulations to all the winners!
