Lacrosse: CHS Girls Win Two, Lose One

Last week, the Coronado Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse team hosted three different teams at Niedermeyer Field. Tuesday’s game against Poway High School resulted in the third win of the season for Coronado. Sophomore Makena Armstrong led the team offensively, scoring three goals, followed by sophomore Josie Morrissey, who scored two, and junior Rachel Siefert, who scored one goal and had two assists. Poway was not as successful offensively and fell short 8-11, giving Coronado a three-point victory.

On Wednesday, Scripps Ranch gave Coronado a hard time on the offense. In the first half Scripps Ranch had a convincing lead of 11-2, but Coronado worked hard on both offense and defense, but ended with a final score of 17-9. Wilson scored three of Coronado’s nine goals, followed by seniors Katie Larratt and Brynn Umansky, who both scored two.

The last game of the week was played against Cathedral Catholic High School, who proved a difficult opponent as well. Umansky scored six total goals, followed by sophomores Catie Ward and Camden DeMaio, who both scored two goals. Wilson, in the last eight seconds of the game, had an assist that gave Coronado the victory 15-14. Senior Tori Marinics scored this final goal.

The team’s current season record is four wins to two losses.

Upcoming Game:

Friday, March 23 vs. Potomac Senior High School at Niedermeyer Field @ 5:30 PM
