This anniversary season continues with Seussical The Musical featuring all the favorite Dr. Seuss characters brought from the page to the stage. The cast of characters includes Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and more. The Cat in the Hat narrates the classic story of Horton the elephant who discovers a peculiar speck of dust. The speck is home to the Whos including Jojo Who, a child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” With a wonderful score of music, find out how Horton faces the challenge of protecting the Whos from danger while also guarding an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. The unlikely hero faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial of epic proportions. This musical adventure is fun for the entire family with a heartwarming message of the value of friendship, loyalty, family.

During the six-week run of performances September 2 – October 9, 2016, Coronado Playhouse, the Community’s Theatre, is raising money and awareness to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. The House is specifically designed to provide a home away from home for families with hospitalized children – including 47 bedrooms, hot meals and a children’s play area for siblings – so families can focus their attention on supporting their sick or injured child instead of worrying about day-to-day needs. Every year, more than 1,500 families are helped and the need for overnight services far exceeds its 47-room capacity. For more information on programs please visit www.rmhcsd.org.
