FILM FORUM CORONADO: “The Last of Sheila” (1973)

Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 pm in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.

January 21: The Last of Sheila (1973, PG, 120 min)

Composer Stephen Sondheim and actor Anthony Perkins crafted a deliciously bitchy little bonbon that takes assault on Hollywood secrets. A nasty producer (James Coburn) lures a sordid group of friends to holiday on his yacht — aiming to unmask one of them as the hit-and-run killer of his wife Sheila. The star-studded cast includes James Mason, Dyan Cannon, Richard Benjamin, Raquel Welch and Joan Hackett.
