The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission and Coronado MainStreet present a free community festival celebrating The Wizard of Oz. Oz comes home to Coronado through a full-day of actvities at a FREE family-oriented celebration of art, music, and dance in Spreckels Park, featuring Coronado’s local arts community. Saturday, August 2. 10 am to 4 pm. Celebrate Oz!
Elements to be included in the festival:
- A children’s parade* around the bandstand lead by a costumed dance troupe, Glinda the Good Witch and Emerald City Mayor Casey Tanaka
- Community Organizations previewing upcoming Oz-related events
- Coronado Community and Big Band concerts featuring Oz-themed music
- Dance performances by various local dance groups – adult and children
- CAC’s Art Under the Umbrella featuring local visual artists
- Solo and small group musical performances
- Booths for CAC and other partner organizations
* Follows children’s activities in the park from 10 – 11am offered by the Coronado Public Library Children’s Services dept featuring face painting and hat making for the parade which follows.
