Coronado Summer Enrichment is all about the S.T.E.A.M.

The CSF Summer Enrichment program has fun, engaging classes to cover all of the letters in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics).

SE2016 Web Img 600x300Coronado Summer Enrichment registration is well under way! We’re excited for your students to join in the fun and enroll.   Classes run in three one-week sessions (June 14-17, June 20-24, and June 27-July 1) for children entering grades K-12th.  In addition, there are three classes that run over the course of all three weeks. The program is run by dedicated Coronado Unified teachers and local experts with Kathy Shady, Village 4th grade teacher with her Administrative Credential, as Principal.

The program has fun, engaging classes to cover all of the letters in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics). Here’s a sample of some of the classes available in each area:

scienceSCIENCE – New this year, Crime Solving Chemistry gives students the opportunity to work like a real Crime Scene Investigator.  Offered by revered CMS teacher Mr. Ramirez, learn entry-level chemistry, science literacy, and persuasive writing. Get ready for Elephant Toothpaste, Acids and Bases Abstract Art, Frozen Science, and Cooking up a Mystery!
FullSizeRender[1]TECHNOLOGY – Have you ever wondered how video games are made? Breaking the Code will take the mystery out of that and provide you the opportunity to learn what goes on behind the scenes in order to build games, animations, and programs using the fundamentals of computer science.
EngineeringENGINEERING – At any age, a kid can be an engineer! In Raving Robotics, students will engage in activities that connect real-world experience with the fundamentals of engineering and robotics. In addition to creating simple models of the machines around us, students will be programming LEGO Mindstorms!
GuitarWK1 - 1ARTS – Take Beginning Guitar to learn basic guitar fundamentals, including hand placement, chords, and strumming technique. A Summer Enrichment favorite, CHS Music Director and CoSA Instrumental Music Instructor Mr. Heinecke teaches students to play through both group and individual instruction.
Math + TennisMATHEMATICS – Game, Set, Math through Tennis allows for fun and innovative game play and drills that incorporate math and will be used to teach the lead up skills to learn the game of tennis. Participants will also be developing/improving large motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and rhythmic availability through the use of racquets and ball.
