A proud tradition in Coronado since 1964, the Rotary Pancake “All You Can Eat” Breakfast will take place Sunday, April 17, at Coronado Village Elementary School cafeteria (corner of Sixth Street and H Avenue).
A simple but filling menu of pancakes, sausages, milk, juice and coffee will be served by Rotarians from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rotary’s pancake breakfast is open to the public – $7 for adults and $4 for children.
Rotarians flip pancakes, grill sausages and even share a few jokes and magic tricks at this traditional Coronado community fundraiser.
Tickets are available at the door or from one of the 235-plus Rotary members in the community.
Once again this year, Rotary members will donate their extra tickets to the military. Past President Dan’l Steward is in charge of distributing the tickets to the enlisted men and women.
“This breakfast is an ‘all hands on deck’ project for our club,” said John Garrett, pancake breakfast chairman. “Every member has a job that day, whether it’s getting to Village Elementary at 6 a.m. to set tables, flipping pancakes, or stirring up a batch of orange juice – we are all at work.”
The Pancake Breakfast is a special rite of passage for new Rotarians, who are assigned the difficult task of cleaning the pancake grills following the event. Once they have finished, John Garrett gives them the white glove treatment to be sure everything is spotless and ready for the following year.
Don’t be surprised to see the Mayor and other elected officials and local celebrities serving pancakes and working the crowd this Sunday.
Coronado Rotary has been meeting regularly since 1926. The invitational group meets every Wednesday at the Hotel del Coronado for lunch and the regular club gathering of event updates and club news.
