Many Coronado Merchants Support Wounded Warriors in March
Mayor Casey Tanaka, Facebook:
“We have a group of former Naval Academy Grads and Naval Officers in Coronado who humbly call themselves the Old Goats. They are hosting an event for Wounded Sailors and Soldiers at 5PM on Sunday, March 10th at the Nautilus Room of the Coronado Community Center. At this event, a small group of our wounded warrior heroes will be celebrated by the City of Coronado and our patriotic merchants. This event is meaningful, and open to the public. Tickets to this program are $50/person and all the proceeds go to funding the Wounded Warriors via the Old Goats. If you are interested, please contact Ben Hallowell, the heart and soul of Coronado’s Old Goats, at 435-2897.”
Several Coronado merchants and sponsors as mentioned by the Mayor together with the Old Goats directly contributed to Coronado’s wounded warrior week . As a result of their combined effort and donations, more than 25 wounded warriors and their families from Naval Regional Medical Center San Diego will enjoy dining in Coronado during the week of March 4 – 11. These heroes are in addition to those 4 being honored with a weekend at the Hotel del and the Sunday reception.

March 10, 2013 Wounded Warrior Reception:
Coronado, CA (February 26, 2013) – The City of Coronado, Hotel del Coronado and a group of retired naval officers called the Navy Old Goats will host a special reception March 10 for wounded service members at the Coronado Community Center.
The third annual Coronado Wounded Warrior Reception provides an opportunity for four service members who are being treated at Naval Medical Center San Diego and their families to visit and enjoy the City. The reception also allows the community to show its appreciation for their sacrifices.
Each paid reservation helps defray the dinner costs for the four specially selected honorees, their families and their caregivers from Naval Medical Center San Diego’s Comprehensive Combat and Complex Casualty Care, or C5, program.
This year’s reception will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in the Nautilus Room of the Coronado Community Center, 1845 Strand Way. Guest speakers for the reception will be Coronado Mayor Casey Tanaka and Lt. Jay Redman, a Navy SEAL, a wounded warrior and motivational speaker.
Tickets to the reception are $50 each.
