This morning around 9:00 am an ambulance took away an accident victim involved in a collision at the intersection of 4th Street and H Avenue. Ironically, it was exactly one year ago today that I both hand delivered and mailed a letter to the Coronado Police Department in regard to this dangerous intersection (see letter below). Unfortunately, I never received a response that my concerns were being taken for action or referred to CALTRANS that is responsible for traffic on this road.
During my visit to the Police Department last year, I specifically recommended that the red curbs be repainted and extended to allow motorists crossing from H to see vehicles approaching on 4th. It’s been a year now and the curbs have not been painted and motorists continue to park illegally along 4th. Can you believe CALTRANS was considering increasing the speed limit on 4th?
