Tracy Lee (Hornbeek) Chance, 56 years old, of Coronado, CA, passed away on September 30, 2017, after a short battle with cancer.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church (corner of 10th Street & C Avenue) from 2pm-3pm, followed by a reception at the Roeder Pavilion, located in the Coronado Shores, from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Pastor David McElrath will be officiating.
Tracy was born in Oklahoma City, OK on August 25, 1961. She graduated from Putnam City High School and continued on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Textile Design from the University of Oklahoma, and received a degree from FIDM for Fashion Design and Merchandising.
Tracy was married to Mike Chance on September 10, 1983; they shared a loving marriage for 34 years.
Tracy, along with Mike and their sons, moved to Coronado in 1986. Her mother, Patricia Hornbeek, and she opened their own small business, Treasures from the Heart, which they owned for 17 years and is still located in Coronado (under different ownership). Tracy enjoyed crafting, gatherings with family, researching family history, traveling, organizing events, solving puzzles and laughing. Tracy was also a former President of the Coronado Junior Woman’s Club where she was known for creating the famous “Beans ‘N Jeans Chili Cook-off” and raising money for various local charities and the Coronado School District.
Tracy is survived by her husband Mike, three sons, Zack, Drew, and Hunter, brother Daron, her parents, Patricia and Ron Hornbeek, dog Boomer and a large extended family.
