CORONADO, Calif. — A main road through Coronado was reopened early Monday, about 12 hours after a water main rupture caused a sinkhole, authorities said. The three-foot-by-three-foot sinkhole was reported around 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the right lane of northbound Orange Avenue, across from the Hotel del Coronado, according to the Coronado Police Department. The cause was a broken water main under the road, police said. Northbound traffic off the Silver Strand was diverted onto Pomona Avenue, until about 4:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
