Join the Islanders at Coronado High School’s annual Empty Bowls event! The dinner event will take place in the CHS Multipurpose Room (650 D Avenue) on Thursday, April 19th from 5-7pm, and support the CHS Ceramics Department and the Hunger Project. Coronado ceramics students have worked hard to create a variety of bowls to increase hunger awareness in San Diego. Over 1,000 bowls have been made especially for this event.
.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Hunger Project. The Hunger Project, started by Congregation Beth Israel of San Diego, works to end hunger in San Diego and has served over 900,000 meals to those in need in our community. $20 buys you a unique, handmade bowl and soup of your choice. $10 will provide just soup or just a bowl. Local restaurants will donate over 70 gallons of soup.
.
In 2011, the Empty Bowls event raised over $16,000 — enough to feed 700 people every Sunday for four months. The goal this year is even higher, so come and support the community effort!
