Free Screening of Documentary Film “God + Country” – May 19

At 3 pm on Sunday, May 19, a new documentary produced by Rob Reiner called “God + Country,” about the “Christian Nationalism” movement and its relationship to Christianity, will be shown in the Coronado Performing Arts Center at the corner of 6th Street and D Avenue. The screening is a free, one-time event.

It will be followed by a panel discussion led by Southwestern College’s World Religion professor, Peter Bolland, and featuring Coronado pastors, Steve Mather of the Coronado Community Church, and JT Greenleaf of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Seats are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Christian nationalism is the belief that America should be defined as a Christian nation, with government adherence to this ideology. The “God + Country” documentary film takes a closer look at these implications and explores how a base of Christians has stoked a movement erasing the line between Church and State.
