CIFF Launches “Best of the Fest” Virtual Series

Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF) invites you to come along on a virtual cinematic journey as it launches a new online series called Best of the Fest, starting April 10!

The weekly series will feature a curated collection of Audience and Jury favorites from the past four festival years, 2016-2019, giving these cinematic gems an encore screening.

Executive Director Merridee Book says, “As everyone is sequestered at home, and very likely reaching ‘streaming overload,’ CIFF has decided this is the perfect time to revisit some of the Best of the Fest.”

Launching the series is a selection of 11 favorite shorts, including this year’s Academy Award-winning Best Live Action Short, The Neighbor’s Window. “In the coming weeks, watch for more of the amazing films that have moved and inspired our festival audiences over the years,” adds Book. These films will provide a snapshot into the diverse and outstanding programming audiences have come to expect during the annual Coronado Island Film Festival, held over Veteran’s Day weekend.

The collection of shorts will run from April 10-16. It will be followed, from April 17-23, by the documentary feature, Skid Row Marathon (2017) which captured the hearts of CIFF audiences with its timeless story of hope, friendship and dignity.

From Skid Row Marathon producer Gabi Hayes: “We are very proud to have won Best Documentary Feature, Audience Favorite Documentary and the Ken Fitzgerald and Ruby Carr Emerald Award at the 2017 Coronado Island Film Festival. We will never forget the warm welcome and positive reaction we received from our film.”

To access the entire Best of the Fest Series, CIFF is asking for a one-time donation of $25.00 or more to help support our film initiatives during this time, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit all donations are tax deductible. Starting on Thursday April 9th, all donors will receive an email confirmation with links and pass-codes to watch the films at their leisure.

Donations can be made anytime during the screening week to receive the access code for the shorts, which will be good until April 16th. Starting on April 17th the next link for a new feature will be sent. Complimentary access will be granted to current 2020 Film Package Holders and 2020 Benefactors.
