Please join Coronado Real Estate Association for the 1st Annual Lorton Mitchell and Stan Searfus Memorial Paddle Board Races to be held on June 2, 2018 at the Coronado Boathouse located at 1985 Strand Way, Coronado. We started this journey back in August to honor Lorton as one of our top home builders in Coronado by raising money for his worthy cause. One of Lorton’s passions was paddling so we (CREA) decided to have an event in his memory. Enter Stan Searfus, who was to be our race coordinator as he too was passionate about paddle boarding. When meeting him in November to view the venue, Stan became so excited that he shared countless ideas and the event was starting to take shape. But come January, with the untimely death of Stan, we decided to make this memorial for both of these wonderful gentlemen that gave so much to Coronado. Proceeds will benefit the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation (ACCRF) and our local Coronado Surfing Association (CSA).
We need your help! Our goal for this event is to raise $10,000 for the ACCRF and CSA in memory of Lorton Mitchell and Stan Searfus. With your support, we can ensure that the cancer research and the surfing programs for local youths will continue to be available and funded. Act now and make our goal a reality. We are counting on YOU!
Events of the day will include:
- Relay Race – Team of 5 (Board provided for all teams)
- 2 Mile Distance Race (SUP & Prone)
- Fun Run/Paddle/Swim (TBA)
- Lunch and Beer Garden
Tentative Schedule:
- Registration: 8:30 am to 9:45 am (day of race)
- Races Start: 10:00 am through 12:30 pm
- Beer Garden: 11:30am -1:30pm
- Lunch: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
- Awards Ceremony – 1:00 pm
