“Romancing the Stone” Comes to Classic Series – Feb. 28

Always ready for a little romance, the Coronado Island Film Festival is sending a Valentine your way with the 1984 romantic adventure romp, “Romancing the Stone,” starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito. The film will screen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28 at the Village Theatre. Tickets are now on sale at the theatre box office. Prices are $10.50 for adults, $7.50 for seniors 62 and over and children under 12.

Special guest will be the award-winning cinematographer Dean Cundey, who will introduce the film and remain afterwards for a Q&A with the audience. Theatre-goers will remember Cundey from his October “Back to the Future” visit, and also from the November Film Festival, where he received the Cinematographer Award at Leonard Maltin’s Celebrity Tribute.

This film is one of several successful collaborations (“Back to the Future;” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”) between Cundey and director Robert Zemeckis, who is often credited as being one of the greatest visual storytellers in filmmaking.

Following the screening, guests are invited to a wine reception across the street from the theatre at Coronado Private Bank.
