The Coronado Chamber of Commerce (Coronado Chamber) is pleased to introduce Coronado resident Ashley DeGree as its new Marketing & Communications Coordinator. The selection was made after careful consideration by a board hiring committee, and the Chamber officially welcomed DeGree on board May 18.
“We are so excited to have Ashley on our team,” Coronado Chamber Executive Director Sue Gillingham said. “With her diverse background and desire to get to know this amazing community, she was the perfect choice.”
Her experience in both media and marketing has prepared her for this new role at the Chamber. DeGree started her career as the Associate Editor at tween fashion magazine Discovery Girls for over six years before heading into the nonprofit sector. As the Marketing Manager for the Kings Art Center in Hanford, she planned new events and brought new life to both the gallery and the local art scene. She then joined the staff at Wish Upon A Star, a wish granting nonprofit for California children with high-risk and life-threatening illnesses, as their Communications Coordinator. After a quick and unexpected Navy move to Coronado last summer, she fell even more in love with the area.
“When my husband called to tell me we would be moving in just two weeks while I was eight months pregnant, I was a bit surprised to say the least! But once he said we were moving to Coronado, I was thrilled. My husband was born here and it’s always been our dream to move back,” said DeGree. “I knew I wanted to get involved with the local community, especially as we hope to make Coronado our forever home, and there’s no better place to do so than the Chamber of Commerce.”
Most recently, DeGree was the Marketing Coordinator at the local nonprofit Coronado SAFE. She lives on the island with her Navy pilot husband Matt and baby boy Rowan.
