Deadline Extended: “My Coronado” Website Photo Contest

sunset_contestCORONADO, CA (September 20, 2015) – The deadline for a photo contest sponsored by the City of Coronado to build local, grassroots awareness and support for its new website has been extended. The new deadline is November 13.

That gives residents and those who work or are students in Coronado a little more than three weeks to get their photos in. The theme of the “My Coronado” photo contest provides for submissions on local arts, art events, beaches, the bustling business district, hardscape vistas, neighborhoods, the vast Pacific Ocean, San Diego and Glorietta bays, the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, all City parks, public events, recreation, residents, transit, trails, animals and action shots. All photographs entered may be used as content on the City’s website or in other ways to promote Coronado.

Participants must sign a waiver that makes the entries the City’s property. Winning entries will receive prizes, recognition at a City Council meeting, and the satisfaction of having their photos featured on the City’s new website, once developed. Winners will be awarded City of Coronado Golf, Recreation or Tennis Center gift certificates in the amounts of $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place.

Photographs will be judged by an independent jury of community members on overall quality, creativity and how well the photographs portray the unique nature of Coronado. City employees are eligible to participate only if photos they submit are or were taken on their own time with their own equipment. The limit on photo submissions has been increased from five to eight individual photo submissions in total.
The deadline for entries is Friday, November 13, with winners announced in late November. To review details and complete rules for the contest, click here. For any questions, call (619) 522-7304.
