CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) courses are free, but do require registration. You may either call the Coronado Fire Department at 519-522-7374 or go online.
Fall 2010 Schedule (Classes run from 9am to 1pm)
- October 16th: Disaster Preparedness – An introduction to the CERT program.
- October 23rd: Disaster Fire Suppression – Fire safety and extinguisher use.
- October 30th: Disaster Medical Operations – First aid, creating treatment areas, treating airway obstruction, bleeding and shock.
- November 6th: Light Search & Rescue: Planning, techniques and rescuer safety.
- November 13th: Terrorism, Disaster Psychology, Team Organization – Symptoms experienced by victims and rescuers.
There is a CERT meeting every third Thursday of the month at 6pm in the EOC at the Police Department where CERT members will receive more training and new updates on Emergency Preparedness.
