School Bus Accident on Orange Ave

UPDATE 4:12pm

Today, at 1:46 PM we were notified by Chief Froomin with the Coronado Police Department that a school bus transporting CUSD students was involved in an accident on the 900 block of Orange Avenue. Medical, Fire and Police were at the scene. Each student was medically screened before they stepped off the bus and escorted to Spreckels Park for parent unification. Emergency Medical Technicians were also available at Spreckels Park during student reunification.

We want to assure you that all students have been individually cared and accounted for during this stressful time. All students have been reunited with their families.


2:07pm — We received notice that a CUSD school bus was involved in a minor accident on the 900 block of Orange [at approximately 1:35 this afternoon]. Police and fire are on scene – no significant injuries. Reunification for students will take place at Spreckels park. Students will be checked out with CMS Principal Mellina and/or Vice Principal Falar. Parents are encouraged to bring photo ID. We will continue to update parents of impacted students.

If you are unable to pick your student(s) up by 2:45 PM, an alternate bus will take students home on their normal route.

A police department spokesperson stated that two children were complaining of pain and an ambulance was being sent to the scene.
