Through mentoring, partnerships, and donations, the Coronado Rotary Club assists educational programs that provide student learning and college preparation. Recently, Rotary presented the Barrio Logan College Institute with a donation to support its education program.

The mission of the Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI) is to break the cycle of poverty by preparing underserved students to be the first in their families to go to college through after-school programs that begin in third grade.

Located close by in Barrio Logan, the program supports children who are traditionally at-risk in low-income San Diego communities. The public schools are a primary referral source and both parents and students must apply for the program.

All BLCI students are of the first generation in their families to attend college and most are, or will be, the first to graduate from high school. Staff, students and parents form a supportive community whose goal is student success. The Institute gives disadvantaged families the education, encouragement, and support they need to send their kids to college.

There is 100% college enrollment attained by Barrio Logan College Institute students.
