Our elected officials in Sacramento, in keeping with the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), drastically cut funding for the Coronado Unified School District, which has now been extended through 2021. While the quality of public school education has had to suffer under these cuts, we now learn that California state legislators are wasting our tax dollars by shelling out $25,000 a month for 40 hours of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s time under the pretense of attacking the Trump administration. If you remember, Eric Holder is the first U.S. attorney general to be held in contempt of Congress on civil and criminal grounds for refusing to turn over documents on Operation Fast and Furious. Assemblyman Kevin Kiley has questioned the three-month contract contending that hiring Holder as outside counsel violates Article VII of the California Constitution. I encourage readers to write their state representatives and object to this unlawful waste of our tax dollars.
