CUSD Crown Preschool Fall 2018 Registration Open

Applications for the 2018-19 school year at Crown Preschool are still being accepted. Crown Preschool fulfills the Coronado Unified School District’s vision to provide a complete education continuum as a lifelong foundation for our community’s children. Crown Preschool offers two three-hour preschool programs. Both three-year-old students and four-year-old students will have the choice to attend either in the mornings or afternoons. The three-year-old program has a two days per week, three days per week, or five days per week option. The four-year-old program is five days per week.

The preschool uses the curriculum “Splash into Pre-K,” a comprehensive early learning program that integrates all the curricular areas (reading and language arts, math, science, social studies, health, and art) and supports character education and social skills.  Additionally, “Splash into Pre-K” aligns with the California Preschool Learning Foundations and Curriculum Framework. Enrichment opportunities in music and movement, science and math, visual and performing arts, and technology are incorporated into the daily schedule as well. The preschool also offers learning opportunities from The Circle of Education, a social-emotional program developed by the Chair of the Family and Child Development Department at SDSU, as well as activities from Handwriting without Tears.  The teachers at Crown Preschool have California Multiple-Subject credentials with an early childhood emphasis and all classroom teaching assistants have California child development preschool permits.

If you need additional care or would like your child to have the opportunity for more social interaction with his/her peers, Crown Preschool also offers an outstanding extended day program. Members of the staff have backgrounds and experience in early childhood education and also have the California child development preschool permits. Activities in the extended day program are coordinated within the curriculum themes. The program opens each day at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.

Application forms are available at the Early Childhood Development Center located at 199 Sixth Street between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  The forms can also be found on the Crown Preschool website (www.crownpreschool.com) and through the CUSD website (www.coronadousd.net) preschool link. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Alonso, Director of Preschool and Child Care Services for CUSD, at (619) 522-6085, or [email protected].
