Navy Noise & Lighting Alert through May 10

Beginning Tuesday, April 12th at the Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, the Navy will be conducting maintenance dredging to re-establish the minimum required harbor depths needed for access by naval vessels.  The dredging work will be conducted from the fuel pier to pier 21, and is scheduled from 6:00pm to 6:00am. It is planned to continue through May 10.

According to Naval Base Coronado’s facebook page, “The dredging operation involves a number of vessels including a survey vessel, a work skiff, a barge mounted clam shell crane, a dredge scow and a tug vessel (when transporting the dredge scow). Localized lighting is required for site visibility and work zone monitoring for marine mammals and green sea turtles. Noise and lighting impacts are anticipated to impact local residents.”

The Navy is committed to being good neighbors within its local communities, while balancing its mission, and will make every effort to abate the noise when possible.

Residents who wish to file a noise complaint may do so online HERE.
