Feeling crafty? Join us on the second* Tuesday of every month for arts and crafts.
In the month of May, we’ll learn about the experiences of Japanese-Americans that were imprisoned in incarceration camps during World War II. They created what is now known as gaman art, which were handmade objects fashioned from whatever limited materials were available to them. Gaman roughly translates to “enduring the seemingly unbearable with patience and dignity.” We will create our own bird pins, which were a popular craft among incarcerated Japanese Americans.
* Please note that Crafty Hour will be happening on the first Tuesday in May
This program is for adults over the age of 18. Registration is not required but recommended.
