Hundreds Gather to Honor Stan Searfus – How You Can Help

Update (Jan. 8th 2018):  The San Diego medical examiner reported that contributing conditions in the death of Stan Searfus were atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease. The official cause of death is listed as “drowning.”

Earlier today, Coronado’s beloved surfer, Stan Searfus, died while surfing off of Point Loma. He was 56. At 4pm today, hundreds showed up at the beach in front of the Coronado Shores to pay their respect for one of the most beloved residents of Coronado.

Stan leaves behind his wife Jan, and their six children (including twin three-year-old boys).  The community of Coronado is coming together to help support the Searfus family: https://www.gofundme.com/stan-searfus-memorial-fund
