Former Coronado Mayor to Host Trivia Night

In an post made on social media Wednesday evening, former Coronado Mayor Casey Tanaka announced that he will begin hosting a new Bar Trivia Night on Mondays from 7pm-9pm at Spicy House in Coronado.

Tanaka started by saying, “People often ask me what I am going to do with my free time now that I am no longer Mayor, and it is with great excitement that I announce that I will be hosting a new Bar Trivia Night every Monday evening.”

In an nod to Tanaka’s teaching position at Coronado High School, the name of this weekly trivia event will be Pop Quiz! With Casey Tanaka. There will be twenty questions covering a wide range of topics, as well as an additional halftime Midterm question, and an additional last question called the Final Exam. A team (no limit to people per team, but Tanaka suggests six or less would be ideal) that answers all of these questions right over the two hours could earn as many as 100 points and the two teams with the highest scores will win $25 and $15 gift certificates, respectively.

Also, anyone who wins on a Monday Night will be memorialized on a “Dean’s List” that will be permanently published on Tanaka’s Facebook page. He also plans to post a picture of the winning team each Monday night on Facebook to let all his friends know who is the best of the best.

If this whole idea isn’t awesome enough, Coronado residents are eligible for a 15% discount at Spicy House on Monday nights, so it’s a win just by showing up and playing!

Spicy House is located at 126 Orange Ave. The first Trivia Night is planned for Monday, April 24, 2017.
