Traffic Signal Workshop:  The City will hold a community workshop to discuss a proposed traffic signal at the intersection of Fourth Street and Alameda Boulevard. Residents are invited to attend this workshop to learn more about the proposed signal and express their views. A traffic signal at Fourth and Alameda was recommended in the 2015 Third and Fourth Street Study by Fehr & Peers and endorsed by the Traffic Advisory Commission. At the City Council’s direction, an application has been submitted to the California Department of Transportation. Upon Caltrans approval, the signal will be presented to the City Council for final approval Here are the meeting details:

Fourth and Alameda

Valentine’s Day 10K:  The seventh annual Coronado Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will be held on Sunday, February 12. About 2,000 runners will take off from Tidelands Park and head along the Bayshore Bikeway under the San Diego-Coronado Bridge to Glorietta Boulevard. They will run past the Coronado Yacht Club using both Strand Way and the Bayshore Bikeway. Participants will turn around at Glorietta Bay Park and head back to Tidelands. The event will take up the northbound half of Glorietta, allowing only for southbound vehicle traffic. A section of Pomona Avenue near Silver Strand Boulevard will be closed at 7 a.m. Roads should reopen before noon.

Valentine's Day Course

Monthly Traffic Enforcement Activity:

  • The total number of citations issued in January by Coronado Police was 380. Of those, 224 were hazardous citations, 72 were for speed, 94 for signals/signs, five for right-of-way violations, and 53 were for other hazardous citations. There were 156 non-hazardous citations with 73 of those being due to license/registration violations and 83 other non-hazardous citations.
  • The Police Department held a Cite Day involving only Coronado officers on Tuesday, February 7, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Officers issued 33 California Vehicle Code cites, two of which were misdemeanors; and an additional 20 parking citations.
