In 2009, a team of researchers traveled deep into the Pacific Ocean to study a solid mass of plastic. Instead, they stumbled upon a soup of free-floating microplastics, a discovery that shocked the team and defied all expectations.
The discovery prompted a four-year global odyssey and “deep dive” into the issue of plastics in our oceans, and a search for the solutions that can save us. A Plastic Ocean is the telling of this team’s winding and courageous journey.
