Unclaimed Funds

The City of Coronado is required by state law to advertise the holding of unclaimed funds belonging to individuals and organizations that have done business with or received services from the City. A list of these unclaimed funds will be posted in the local newspapers for two consecutive weeks. If no one claims the funds 45 days after publication of the notices, or by February 27, the funds will be the property of the City by City Council action which will occur on March 7. If you find that you have unclaimed funds with the City, email [email protected] or write to Accounts Payable Division, Unclaimed Money, 1825 Strand Way, Coronado, California, 92120, and submit a request.

CHECKS ISSUED ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 31, 2013

The City of Coronado is currently in possession of the above listing of unclaimed monies belonging to individuals and organizations that have done business with or received services from the City.

If after reviewing the listing, you have determined that the City may have funds belonging to yourself or business, please submit a request for unclaimed monies by email to [email protected], or write to:

On the request for unclaimed monies, you must indicate check number, amount, payee full name/business name, social security number/taxpayer I.D., street address, city, zip code, and daytime phone number.

When the Accounts Payable Division receives your completed claim request, they will review it carefully.  If evidence is not adequate to prove your ownership or a subsequent payment has been processed, the Division will contact you with an explanation as to why the claim is incomplete or being denied.  Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing.

If no claims for any of the listed checks received by the Accounts Payable Division by February 27, 2017, the unclaimed funds will be the property of the City by Council action on March 7, 2017.
